Expand your painting skills in this technique focused adult painting class (age 15-adult). Designed for artists of varying experience levels, this class emphasizes the process of painting through guided instruction, experimentation, and hands on exploration with acrylic paint and tools.
Throughout the session, artists will explore a variety of painting techniques and artistic styles that may include brushwork, palette knife painting, texture creation, color mixing, layering, composition, and expressive mark making. Each class introduces a new concept or technical focus, encouraging artists to build confidence, strengthen their understanding of painting fundamentals, and develop greater versatility as painters.
The first class of each session serves as a relaxed assessment focused on foundational techniques, creative exploration, and getting to know one another. This allows the instructor to better understand each artist’s experience level, goals, and individual creative style before progressing into more advanced concepts.
Session A: Photo Reference. This session focuses on developing strong painting skills through the use of photographic reference. Artists explore color theory, color mixing, composition, texture, brushwork, value, and technique while learning how to translate a two-dimensional image into a successful painting.
Session B: Observation. This session focuses on painting directly from observation, strengthening the ability to truly see and interpret shape, color, light, texture, and spatial relationships. Artists develop technical painting skills through studies of still life and observational setups while exploring composition, color theory, color mixing, brush technique, and visual problem solving.
Session C: Technique. This session focuses on techniques, creative exploration, and skill development through a different acrylic painting approach each week.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Before you register for classes, please be aware that a full refund will no longer be issued. If you cancel more than one month before classes begin you will receive a refund minus a $20.00 materials/admin fee per session. Cancellations between one month to two weeks before classes begin will receive a 50% refund. There will be NO refund issued within two weeks of class start date. If you join a session already in progress, there will be no refund. Switching classes at any time will incur a $20.00 admin fee, and your spot in the new class will not be guaranteed until payment has been received. Contact the studio for switching instructions.
