In this unique class, artists (ages 6-12) explore the Spanish language through the creative process of making art.  Each session combines hands-on art projects with vocabulary building and basic Spanish conversation.  Using a wide variety of materials — from paint and collage to clay, drawing, and mixed media, artists learn new words and phrases while expressing themselves creatively.  The focus is on discovery and practice, making language learning playful, natural, and engaging.  By blending visual expression with spoken Spanish, participants build confidence in both their artistic voice and their ability to understand and use a new language.  All levels welcome, no previous Spanish knowledge required.  Vámonos!

Meet the Instructor

Since 2022, Devenney has contributed her talents to Amelia Art Studio through toddler art programs and summer camps, and we are delighted to support her new workshop series, Arte con Amigos (Art with Friends).  A dedicated youth educator with over two years of experience in Spanish cultural education, she draws on her bilingual background to create engaging lessons that integrate art, language, and culture.  Her innovative approach nurtures creativity and critical thinking while deepening students’ appreciation for the Spanish language, Hispanic heritage, and the power of art as a bridge between cultures and personal identity.
