Description
An opportunity for younger artists to discover the 2,000 year old tradition of Japanese Sumi-e ink painting. Originally these paintings were created by aristocrats and monks throughout Asia as a form of meditation. Inspired by the brush marks made by their written language, artists use elegant strokes to create bamboo and other plants, as well as insects, fish and birds. Under the guidance of an instructor who has practiced under a Taiwanese master, students will learn and practice a variety of brush marks and rules for composition, then create a greeting card.
